eFax Corporate®
PaperCut Integration
Bridge MFD Paper Workflows with Enterprise Cloud Fax Security
Eliminate expensive analog phone lines, standardize your touchscreen scan-to-fax experience across all MFD brands, and extend end-to-end HIPAA compliance to every physical printer on your network.
Modernize Your MFP Fleet by Eliminating Analog Line Infrastructure
While PaperCut serves as the central print management platform for your organization, paper-based scan-to-fax operations frequently rely on expensive, legacy analog POTS lines and physical fax boards.
The eFax Corporate® PaperCut Advanced Integration bridges this gap by replacing local telephony infrastructure with an HTTPS API-based cloud connection. By routing scans directly from PaperCut-managed MFDs into the eFax® enterprise network, your organization achieves three critical outcomes:
Infrastructure Savings
Completely eliminate analog copper phone lines (POTS), dedicated fax boards, and local fax server hardware across all office locations.
Consistent MFD Touchscreen Experience
Provide users with a standardized, secure “Scan to Fax” interface regardless of printer manufacturer or model.
Real-Time Delivery Verification
Unlike basic email-to-fax setups, PaperCut’s API connector receives immediate submission receipts and status updates directly at the device touchscreen.
Core PaperCut Integration Capabilities
By leveraging PaperCut’s Advanced Scan to Fax API Connector alongside eFax Corporate® developer platform, your IT team unlocks a secure, hardware-free document transmission framework across every device:
| Integration Channel |
Technical Capability | Architectural Integration |
|---|---|---|
| Advanced API Connector |
Uses a secure HTTPS REST API connection (via eAPI) rather than basic, unencrypted SMTP email delivery. | Delivers higher transmission security, real-time job status feedback, and zero reliance on local mail relays. |
| Centralized Admin Control |
Configures global fax settings, fixed recipient hotkeys, and user permissions from the PaperCut Admin Web Interface. | Prevents unauthorized faxing, limits misuse, and eliminates manual device-by-device configuration. |
| Multi-Brand MFD Support |
Unifies fax workflows across mixed hardware fleets (Canon, HP, Xerox, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, Kyocera). | Standardizes user training and operational steps across all office buildings and departments. |
| Data Sovereignty Controls |
Configures region-specific data routing to align with strict geographic privacy mandates. | Ensures sensitive document payloads never leave designated national boundaries or storage zones during transit. |
Unified User Management and Device Fax Workflows
Eliminate the bottleneck of standalone fax hardware. The eFax Corporate® integration scales scan-to-fax operations across your entire workforce while enforcing active user directory permissions:
| Platform Action | Operational Impact | |
|---|---|---|
|
Step 1 Secure User Login |
The user authenticates at the MFD touchscreen via badge swipe, PIN, or active directory credentials. | 1:1 Mapping: The system maps the PaperCut account directly to an authorized eFax Corporate® profile. |
|
Step 2 Dynamic Destination Input |
The user selects pre-configured speed-dials or inputs a recipient fax number directly into the touchscreen. | Error Reduction: Auto-populates recipient details and cover pages to prevent wrong-number transmissions. |
|
Step 3 Real-Time Status Return |
PaperCut hands the digital scan to the eFax® API, returning an immediate completion status to the user. | Zero Audit Gaps: Confirms success at the machine while logging job details into PaperCut and eFax® audit reports. |
The Inbound & Outbound Data Pipeline Architecture
To securely bridge physical paper documents with your cloud fax infrastructure, our PaperCut integration executes an automated, 4-step transmission process:
A user scans a paper document at the MFD; PaperCut verifies the user’s identity and fax authorization permissions before capturing the scan.
PaperCut packages the scanned document as an encrypted payload and transmits it over HTTPS (eAPI) directly to the eFax Corporate® cloud infrastructure.
eFax Corporate® processes the payload, executes the outbound fax transmission to the recipient’s destination machine, and logs metadata (ANI/CSID, timestamps, duration).
Transaction confirmations automatically write back to both the PaperCut Job Log and the eFax® Admin Portal for full regulatory tracking.
Advancing Enterprise Data Liquidity Across MFD Fleet Workflows
True interoperability means connecting physical hardware to modern cloud ecosystems. When staff scan paper forms, medical records, or legal contracts at a multifunction printer, eFax Corporate® acts as the cloud transport layer. By converting physical pages into encrypted digital payloads sent via API, we ensure physical documents enter your digital workflows instantly—without relying on paper trays, printed confirmation sheets, or vulnerable phone drops.
Enterprise Security Standards and
Document Compliance
Our integration architecture satisfies the rigid information security protocols demanded by corporate compliance officers, HIPAA auditors, and enterprise IT leads:
HIPAA + BBA
Consensus Cloud Solutions signs formal Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) to ensure physical scans containing PHI remain fully protected.
End-to-End TLS Encryption
Replaces unencrypted analog telephone transmissions with TLS/HTTPS encrypted API tunnels from device to cloud.
Single Sign-On & SCIM Mapping
Enforces 1:1 user mapping between PaperCut and eFax® profiles to prevent anonymous or unverified faxing from public office printers.
Centralized Usage Auditing
Automatically tracks every inbound and outbound transmission in central job logs for complete SOX and SOC 2 compliance tracking.
Enterprise Workflow Automation and Operational Benefits
Integrating eFax Corporate® with PaperCut transforms static printer fleets into secure digital intake hubs:
Decommission expensive analog POTS lines, line splitters, and physical fax cards across your enterprise facilities.
Allow employees to scan and send faxes in seconds using centralized address books and programmable hotkeys.
Track fax usage by department, cost center, or user directly inside PaperCut’s centralized reporting dashboards.
