How Do I Send Faxes by Email with eFax?

To send a fax, simply email your file and eFax® will convert it into a fax before sending it on its way.

Follow these 4 steps:

  1. Create a new email message.
  2. In the "To:" field, enter the recipient's fax number followed by @efaxsend.com. For example:
    • To send to the U.S. fax number +1 323 555 1234, enter [email protected] where 1 equals the country code; 323 is the area code; and 5551234 is the fax number.
    • When sending a fax to an international number, use the complete destination fax number, including the country code, city code, and local number. For example, to send to the UK number +44 (0)20 7555-1234, type [email protected], where 44 equals the country code; 207 is the area code; and 5551234 is the fax number. For a complete list of country codes, please click here.
  3. Attach the file(s) (10 maximum) you would like to send as a fax. To include a cover page, type the text in the body of the email message. (The body works as your cover page.) Or you can choose from a selection of cover page templates.
  4. Click Send.

When sending a fax by email, I get an SPF error message. How can I fix this?

For security reasons, SPF (Sender Policy Framework) must be enabled to send faxes by email, or your fax will fail. If you received an SPF error, this means your DNS server is missing a valid SPF record.

Contact your email administrator to add an SPF record to your DNS. Or, if you are the admin, you can generate an SPF record here and follow this setup guide.

To check your SPF record, click here.

Note: You can still send faxes via your account online or our mobile app, regardless of SPF status.
