Mobile Apps

    Try the eFax® Mobile App for iOS and Android.  It lets you view and send faxes right from your smartphone or tablet. Our advanced image-processing technology allows you to take a photo of a document and send it as a full-size fax. To download the app, search for eFax® in the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store.

    You can also send and receive faxes through eFax®, using your PDA or smartphone, provided the device allows access to your personal email account- or provides its own email service (for example, a Blackberry email address). Make sure the email account is registered with eFax® for receiving and sending faxes.

    To use eFax® with a mobile device:

    1. Log into eFax > My Account.
    2. Click Update Account.
    3. On the Preferences tab, in the Receive Email Addresses section, click Edit.
    4. Enter your mobile device email address, in an available box and click Update.
    5. In the Send Email Addresses section, click Edit.
    6. Enter your mobile device email address in an available box and click Update.
    7. To view faxes, check your email inbox on your mobile device, and open the attached fax.

    If you have trouble, make sure your mobile device is able to open and display the TIF or PDF files sent by eFax®. (EFX files require eFax Messenger® and are not compatible with mobile devices.) You may also need to update your account preferences, so that eFax® delivers faxes in either TIF or PDF format.

    To send faxes, log in to your email account via your mobile device, then follow the instructions for sending a fax by email.

    Yes! The eFax® mobile app lets you view faxes, right from your iPhone or Android device, and send faxes from your iPhone.

    To download the eFax® mobile app for iPhone and iPad: log into your iTunes account, and search for eFax in the App Store.

    To download the eFax® mobile app for Android devices: go to the Google Play Store, and search for eFax®.

    Use the eFax® app to view and manage your faxes directly from your smartphone or tablet.

    To view a fax on iPhone/iPad:

    • Start the eFax app, and log into your eFax account.
    • At the Home screen, tap View Faxes.
    • At your Inbox, tap an item to view the fax.

    To view a fax on Android:

    • Start the eFax® app, and log in to your eFax® account. Your Inbox loads immediately.
    • Tap an item to view the fax.

    To send a fax from the eFax® mobile app:

    • Start the eFax® app, and log into your eFax® account.
    • On the iPhone/iPad, tap Send Fax at the Home screen. On Android, tap the eFax® logo to access the menu tray, then tap Send Fax.
    • At the Send Fax form: Type the recipient's fax number, or tap + to select from your Contacts.
    • Tap Cover Page to turn the cover page on or off; then- if on, type cover-page text.
    • Tap Add (+) Attachment to add documents to the fax.
      • Choose Camera to use your device to take a picture of a document to send.
      • Choose Camera Roll/Gallery to add images already stored on your device to the fax.
      • Choose Documents/File Browser to add documents of other filetypes to the fax.
    • Repeat to add more pages (each photo is a page).
    • Tap Send.

    Yes! You can search for faxes (by entering keywords contained in fax text) or for tags you've applied to your faxes.

    To view a fax on iPhone/iPad:

    • Start the eFax® app, and log into your eFax® account.
    • At the Home screen, tap Search Faxes.
    • At the Search screen, type the search text and then tap Search.

    To view a fax on Android:

    • Start the eFax app, and log into your eFax account.
    • Tap the eFax® logo to access the menu tray, then tap Search Faxes.
    • At the Search screen, type the search text and then tap Search.

Receiving Faxes

    Anyone can send a fax to your eFax® number. Your eFax® number works just like any regular fax number. Senders do not need to subscribe to eFax®.

    Faxes sent to your eFax® number will arrive in your email inbox, attached to an email from eFax®.

    • Faxes will come from the email address eFax [message@inbound.efax.com]. Be sure to add this email address to your contact book.
    • The subject line of your email will be "Fax Received From (Fax Number)".

    Faxes are also delivered and stored in your eFax® Message Center. To access the eFax® Message Center, log into eFax® > My Account, and click View Faxes.

    eFax Plus® and eFax Pro™ customers can receive faxes at up to five (5) email addresses per eFax® number at no additional charge.

    To add a receive email address to your eFax® account:

    1. Log in in to eFax > My Account.
    2. Click Update Account.
    3. On the Preferences tab, in the Receive Email Addresses section, click Edit.
    4. Enter one or more email addresses, and click Update.

    You may view your faxes in your email inbox- or log into eFax > My Account and view faxes online in the Message Center.

    NOTE: eFax® Free users will receive faxes as attachments in the EFX format- and to view them, will need to download and install our free eFax Messenger® software (which is optional for eFax Plus® and eFax Pro™ users). 

    Once you've installed the Messenger software, then to read faxes in your email:

    1. Log into your account.
    2. Open the email message from eFax [message@inbound.efax.com].
    3. Click the attachment to open the fax in eFax Messenger®.

    To read faxes in your eFax® Message Center:

    1. Log in to eFax > My Account.
    2. Click View Faxes.
    3. To open a fax, click the Subject.
    4. Open the fax attachment by clicking the View Fax file name link at the top of the fax preview display.
    5. Click Download in the Message Center toolbar to save the fax to your computer.

Sending Faxes

    If you are an eFax Plus® or eFax Pro customer, there are several convenient ways to send a fax online:

    Send features are only available to eFax Plus® and eFax Pro customers. To upgrade your eFax Free account, log in to eFax < My Account, and click Upgrade My Account.

    To send a fax by email:

    1. Create a new email message.
    2. In the To: field, enter the recipient's Fax Number followed by @efaxsend.com.
      For example:
      • o To send to the U.S. fax number +1 323 555 1234, enter 13235551234@efaxsend.com where 1 equals the country code; 323, the area code; and 5551234, the fax number. (For a complete list of country codes, please click here. Then, click the "What countries can I send faxes to" link.)
    3. Attach the file (or files; 10 maximum) you would like to send to your outgoing email message.
    4. To include a cover page, type the text in the body of the email message. (The body works as your cover page.)
    5. Click Send.

    NOTE: Your email address must be registered with eFax® as a valid send address. Click here for help registering your email address.

    To send a fax from the web:

    1. Log in to eFax < My Account
    2. Click Send Faxes.
    3. Enter the Name and Company Name of the recipient

      If the recipient is in your Contacts, a list of matching Contact names will appear as you type. Select a contact, and eFax® will automatically fill out the recipient info, using the Contact details
    4. To access your My Account contacts directly, click Choose From Contacts; then select a Contact; eFax® will automatically fill out the recipient info, using the Contact details
    5. In the Select Fax To Country list, select the destination country.
    6. If you didn't select a contact earlier, enter recipient's fax number.

      NOTE: When sending to international numbers through eFax®, it is not necessary to include the "0" before the fax number. For example, if you wanted to send a fax to the UK number (0) 20 7555 1234, you would: (a) Select UK (44) from the Select Fax To Country list; and (b) Type 2075551234 in the Fax Number field.
    7. To include a cover page: Check Include Cover Page, then fill in the cover-page fields.

      eFax® will automatically fill in your Sender details, using information from your account profile. Click in any field to edit or change the information. For help updating your profile information, click here.
    8. To select the document (or documents; 10 maximum), then- in the Attachments section, click Browse and locate the file(s).
    9. Click Send Fax.

    To send a fax through eFax® Messenger:

    1. Locate the Compose Fax icon on your desktop.
    2. Double-click the icon to open the Compose Fax window.
    3. When the Compose Fax window appears enter the recipient's contact information, such as their Name and Company.
    4. Enter the destination Fax Number, and verify the proper Country Code is selected.
    5. In the Select Fax To Country list, select the destination country.
    6. Click Add to include the person in the list of recipients.
    7. If necessary, repeat steps 3-6 to add more recipients.
    8. If you would like to send a cover page with your document, enter the Subject and Message in the fields provided.
    9. In the Attachments section at the bottom of the window, click Attach to locate and select (10 maximum) the documents you'd like to send in the outgoing fax.
    10. Click Send Fax.

    To send a fax, using eFax® Messenger Compose Fax:

    1. Open eFax Messenger® .
    2. From the Home Page, select Send a Fax.
    3. Enter the recipient's Fax Number, Name and Company.
    4. Click Add.
    5. Enter the cover page's Subject and Message.
    6. Click Add to attach the document(s) that you would like to fax.
    7. Click Send Fax.

    NOTE: To avoid any possible errors during the upload and transmission of your faxes, please make sure that your computer is set to display file extensions for your documents.

    eFax Plus® and eFax Pro customers can send faxes, using up to five (5) email addresses, per eFax® number, at no additional charge.

    To add a send email address to your eFax® account:

    1. Log into eFax > My Account
    2. Click Update Account.
    3. On the Preferences tab, in the Send Email Addresses section, click Edit.
    4. Enter one or more email addresses and click Update.

    Whether you're sending a fax via email, the web, or by eFax Messenger®, faxing to an international number doesn't require anything special. Just make sure you format the fax number correctly. Here are some tips:

    • Use the complete destination fax number, including the country code, city code and local number.
    • When sending through eFax®, in most cases it is not necessary to include the "0" before the fax number (except for Italian numbers). For example, to send to the United Kingdom number 020 7123 4567, you would drop the 0 and type the fax number as 442071234567
    • For a complete list of country codes, please click here, then click on the "What countries can I send faxes to" link.

    When you send a fax, a Send Confirmation receipt will be sent to your email address, confirming transmission. Additionally, you may also view the send activity log in eFax > My Account.

    To view activity logs online:

    1. Log into eFax > My Account.
    2. Click Update Account.
    3. Click the Usage tab.
    4. Beside Sending Faxes, click Activity Log.

    If you sent the fax through your email, the outgoing message should be saved in your Sent Items folder. You can resend it, using your email program's native sending options.

    To resend a fax through eFax® Messenger 4.0 or higher:

    1. Open eFax Messenger®, and click the Sent Faxes link.
    2. Double-click the fax you would like to resend.
    3. Click Resend Fax on the eFax Messenger® toolbar at the top of the screen. The Compose Fax window appears.
    4. Add new recipients, edit or remove former recipients; or attach new files, as required.
    5. Click Send Fax.

    To resend a fax through eFax® Message Center:

    1. Log into eFax > My Account.
    2. Click View Faxes.
    3. In Message Center, double-click the Sent Faxes folder.
    4. Locate and click the fax you'd like to resend, then click Fax in the Message Center toolbar.
    5. Fill out the Websend form (for help, view the FAQ on Sending a Fax ), and click Send Fax.

    NOTE: Your original fax will be automatically added as an attachment in the Websend form.
